How do I know if this test is right for me?
If your acne pops up before your period, hangs out on your jawline, comes with PMS, irregular cycles, or you’re in perimenopause thinking “why am I breaking out again?”… this test can help.
Men can test, too!
Minimum age is 12. For kids under 12, a different cortisol test is usually a better fit. Email us: support@katiestewartwellness.com if you're interested in this option.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, this one’s not for you right now since some recommendations aren’t suitable during that season.
What if I'm taking birth control?
Short answer… it depends on what you want to learn.
The DUTCH test measures the hormones your body makes. It does not measure the synthetic hormones in birth control. Blood work can’t measure those either.
If you’re on combination birth control pills, the patch, ring, or the Depo shot, your natural estrogen and progesterone are usually suppressed. So results will look low. That’s expected and shows the birth control is doing its job.
If you’re on a progestin-only pill, IUD, or implant, ovulation may or may not be happening. Some women still ovulate. Some don’t. In these cases, testing can still give helpful insight, but timing matters.
If your goal is to see your true natural hormone baseline, it’s best to wait about 3 cycles after stopping birth control before testing.
If you’re staying on birth control and want insight into patterns like androgen levels, stress hormones, or how your body is responding while on it, we can still run the test. We’ll just interpret it through that lens.

How is this different from regular blood work?
Blood work shows your hormone levels at one moment in time. The DUTCH test shows the bigger picture. It looks at how your body makes, uses, and clears hormones. That’s important for acne because your levels can look “normal” but still be breaking down in a way that triggers breakouts.
I’ve done functional testing before. Why would this be different?
Because interpretation is everything. We don’t just hand you results. We connect your labs to your breakouts, digestion, cycle, stress, and history so your plan actually makes sense for your skin.
Who does my consult?
One of our KSW nutritionists who's been trained directly by Katie and has been on the team for years. Every single one of our qualified practitioners knows our method inside and out and specializes in acne-focused nutrition.
How does the process work and when do the results come in?
After purchase, you’ll get an email to set up your account in our client portal. Fill out the intake forms. Once everything’s submitted, we’ll send your testing instructions, ship your test kit, and provide your consult booking link (within 24 business hours).
You’ll book your consult for about 4 weeks after you ship your sample. Labs usually take 2 to 3 weeks once they receive it. If timing needs adjusting, we’ll easily move your appointment.
Will I just get my results or an actual plan?
You’ll get a real plan. Fully tailored to your labs, symptoms, and goals so you know exactly what to focus on.
Is this covered by insurance?
We don’t direct bill. You can submit your receipt to your provider, but coverage depends on your plan.
Do I have to live in North America?
No you don't! If you live in NY, NJ, RI, PR or outside of North America, additional shipping fees may apply (please email support@katiestewartwellness.com) to check for shipping rates.
